After attending the party meeting in Tirupur, K S Alagiri addressed the media saying, "The Election Commission should explain the reason for conducting re-polling at two polling booths in Theni since no political party has asked for it."
Slamming Modi's recent speeches, the TNCC President said, "Modi is using harsh words these days and acting against traditions. Being a person who does not even believe in his very own ministers, he is accusing Rajiv Gandhi. It is the BJP and RSS who are involved in violence."
Replying to questions from the media on a third front, K S Alagiri said, "DMK is the party that has matured in politics. Even if Chandrasekar Rao meets M K Stalin, Stalin would say that there is no possibility for a third front. In the present situation, there are only two parties in India, namely the religious party and the secular party. Political parties contesting alone is not feasible the present day scenario. Also, the youth have lost their faith in the Election Commission due to its partisan activities," he added.
Responding on a question on 'cash for vote,' K S Alagiri said, "I asked Kanniyakumari Vasanth Kumar how much he would give us for votes, for which he replied that there is no prevalence of such culture here."
Regarding the release of the seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, the TNCC President said, "The Supreme Court has pointed out that the Governor can decide on their release and did not say that the Cabinet’s resolution should be taken into account. The Governor is free to make decisions on this. Our party head has already stated that the family has forgiven the convicts sentenced in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. We are ready to accept anything that occurs, as per law. We cannot pressurize the Governor to make decisions," he reiterated.
